    The reason in movies and tv shows as to why the lock is done improperly is for safety reasons. I did stage combat for years and we used similar techniques in show but made sure we were placed off target a bit so as to not hurt each other if out of sync.

    People withdraw there arms when they punch they don't leave there arms extended. However it's good to learn techniques where self defence systems use grappling wrestling and strikes.

    Genius. Simple. Beautiful. About 4:20 it shows a block from the inside, a very nice move. First of all, when you block a punch from the inside with both arms its nice and strong. Second of all the first strike attacks the neck at the vital point that could "possibly" result in a knockout, plus its around the carotid artery. If it does not knock out the opponent at the Vital Point, which you could use a hammer fist if you wanted to, then you have a very nice take-down with the wrist lock. This is a beautiful move. I like this, even if the opponent was armed. Genius. 1, 2.

      There will be some techniques that will be more difficult because of size variations, and that's why there are many tools in the tool box rather than just one.

    Having pulled off dozens of "old school" gooseneck come-alongs (and failing a few - haha!) I have to say this is a great tool for the toolbox. I've seen this technique a few times before, but haven't seen the "follow to break balance" entry. Definitely have to drill this. Good stuff, I'm sure my training partners are going to hate this one!

  • @kcmacdonald
    @kcmacdonald 7 лет назад

    Great to see someone teaching a proper technical hammerlock! Good breakdown. I'm used to calling this a hammerlock, and it becomes a chicken wing if you use your free hand to pull their thumb up (if you start to lose hand-chops-elbow position), I haven't seen your Restraint and Control DVD but I'd imagine you'd include either that or similar failsafes for the technique. Thanks for a quality vid!

    Good chance of copping a R hook to the face with this move I would think, what can we do to secure the opposite arm? Thanks

    • @aikiproductions
      @aikiproductions 5 лет назад

      When you put the pain on, many forget about wanting to hit you, and as I teach, when they do what you tell them to, you lessen the pain. Best of course is working with a team and your partner is controlling the other arm.

    • @indigoflow19O
      @indigoflow19O 3 года назад

      Its very hard to turn into your partner when they are putting pressure on the lock. Making sure their elbow is wedged tightly between your elbow and ribs while having their near side shoulder blocked with yours helps to prevent them from getting much hip or shoulder involvment into the strike so the damage is negligible, especially if you tuck your head behind their shoulder and turn your face away exposing only the hard part of your head.

  • @ox7bart7xo
    @ox7bart7xo 7 лет назад

    If you're wondering if this would work or not, grab your own shirt that you are wearing as described, gently execute the technique on yourself(don't go to far!) I shit you not you will feel the effect, you only need to apply little effort and the effect is there.

    I use these locks all the time at work and trust me. the chances of pulling that off whilst someone is pulling or snatching the at you is about 1 in a million. Take him to the floor hard with a straight arm lock using your body weight lean into his torso and with a straight and wrist lock and control gained move off into the secure thumb and wrist lock. You should never try and moved someone in this lock on your own. there should be someone else in and identical lock on the he other arm.

    this is a really good clip - the best ive seen on youtube for this technique -thanks for uploading. also, to people saying you cant do this when someone punches you - hooks and crosses are high percentage punches that knock people out all the time and yet only someof them actually knock people out. for every puch that ends a fight there are a lot that dont. nothing is the perfect technique to just randomly do without it being in context. the figure four is legit

    I am not American (in Canada, we have assault (such as verbal threats), assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault (permanent damages such as scars and other deformities), etc that are all different levels of no damage to lots of), but even I understand the legalities of assault in the states. If someone pokes in the chest, or even touches, enough times, especially after warning them, finger and joint locks are permissible under law. If you initiate the locks, then there is some aggression on your part and, therefore, minor assault.

    • @aikiproductions
      @aikiproductions 8 лет назад

      You are allowed to defend yourself if justified, and a finger lock is minor compared to many other things you can do. It just depends on the situation.
